We had originally planned a trip to Cháng Chéng (the Great Wall) with my fellow professors but when we woke up (at 6:30 in the morning on a Sunday), it was raining and our trip was canceled. Enthusiastic about discovering our new city and wired on oatmeal and coffee we decided to make the best of the day and head out to the Forbidden City.
It was cold, it was raining, it was windy... we had a blast!
Stepping into the Forbidden City is like traveling back in time. This ancient imperial palace was built at the beginning of the 15th century during the reign of the third Ming emperor, YungLe. It served as the home of emperors and their households as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years.

El otoño en Pekín se caracteriza por cielos azules y días soleados con un aire muy fresco pero agradable. Como cualquier otra ciudad popular, con el buen tiempo llegan miles de turistas y visitar lugares de interés puede ser un lió total.
Habíamos planeado un viaje al Cháng Chéng (la Gran Muralla), con mis compañeros de la universidad, pero cuando nos despertamos (a las 6:30 de la mañana un domingo), estaba lloviendo y nuestro viaje fue cancelado. Con mucho entusiasmo para descubrir nuestra nueva ciudad y con el cuerpo lleno de cereales calientes y café, decidimos aprovechar el día y salir a la Ciudad Prohibida.
Hacía frio, llovía y soplaba un viento horroroso... nos lo pasamos pipa!
Entrar en la Ciudad Prohibida es como viajar por el tiempo. Este antiguo palacio imperial fue construido a principios del siglo 15 durante el reinado del tercer emperador Ming, YungLe. Sirvió como hogar a los emperadores y sus familias, y como centro ceremonial y político del gobierno chino durante casi 500 años.
